Welcome to my new blog!

Hello and Welcome to my blog. My name is Kevin Grieger. I am a computer Science Graduate from the University of Houston living in Katy, Texas. I spend most of my free time hiking and biking, and fishing at the coast. I graduated on December 13, 2010.

I started this blog with several intentions. Firstly I wanted to help out anyone that has to solve similar problems that I have had whether they are code, or design related. There have been several times when I have used other programming blogs to get an idea of how a particular concept works, or how to design something that has all the qualities it needs to be useful, and I feel like I should start giving back to the community.

I also wanted to cover new and developing technologies as they arrive to programmers "Why use X when Y is faster and better maintained" -- That sort of discussion. Mainly, because there are so many ways to write the same program, or achieve the same result. I like to fully research every project that comes my way, because re-inventing the wheel is becoming way too common nowadays.

Another reason for this blog is to keep track of all the different projects I take on. If it weren't for my massive folder of source code, I probably wouldn't even remember all the different projects I have worked on over the years. And this blog will serve as an even better log of my projects.

This blog will also serve as a tool to better my writing skills. Ever since my last writing class, I have been writing less and less. If I lost this skill, I would really be in a bind; communication has become even more important recently. I believe that the majority of the jobs that can't be outsourced are those that require creative writing(definitely a skill worth keeping/learning if you haven't already).

The last reason I started this blog, I want to help anyone interested in computer science. If you have a question about the computer science, or you are interested in where it might lead you, just drop me a line, and I will gladly answer any questions you may have.

I hope you find this blog useful,

~Kevin G.
